Check your port first
A good match needs two things: the port on your phone and the cable on the power bank. You can check the first half right now. If you want to confirm the second half before a rental, contact us and we will tell you what the power banks at your station support.
The cable you use at home is the best reference. Its phone end is the exact shape your phone takes.
The three port shapes
USB-C is a thin oval that fits either way up. It is on iPhone 15 and later and on almost every current Android phone.
Lightning is a flat plug with exposed contacts, used on iPhone 5 through iPhone 14 and the SE models.
Micro-USB is a small trapezoid that only fits one way. You will find it on older Android phones.
The brand on the back of your phone is not a reliable guide, because makers change ports between model years. Go by the shape of the port or your model's documentation.
When the plug will not seat
If a plug only goes in part way, something is usually in the way. A thick case lip can stop the connector reaching the bottom of the port, and pocket lint builds up inside ports over time.
Try the plug with the case off. To clean the port, follow your phone maker's guidance and never use metal tools, because a bent contact inside the phone cannot be fixed by pushing harder.
When it fits but charges slowly
A phone running navigation or streaming video uses part of the power it receives, so the percentage climbs more slowly. Phones also slow charging when they get warm, to protect the battery.
For the fastest top-up, dim the screen, close apps you are not using, and keep the phone out of a tight, warm pocket while it charges.
When your phone will not charge anywhere
A power bank supplies energy. It cannot repair a damaged port. If your phone does not charge at home with a cable you trust, the port itself may need a repair shop. Moisture and corrosion are the usual causes.
Test at home first, so you know your phone is ready before you rely on a rental.

Find a station on the app map, scan the QR code, and a charged power bank unlocks. Plug in your phone and keep it with you while it charges, then return the power bank to any Juiceboxx station. The rental guide covers every step.
