Why phones drain faster on a night out
Phones work harder away from home. Bright light outdoors pushes screen brightness up, and a brighter screen uses more power. Weak signal inside thick walls or a parking garage makes the phone search for service, which drains the battery even with the screen off. Navigation, photos, and video uploads add their own load.
Cold weather plays a part too. A cold lithium battery delivers less of its stored energy, so a phone can show a lower percentage outside and recover some of it once it warms up indoors.

Getting the most from each charge
Keep the phone and the power bank in the same pocket or bag so the cable is not tugged every time you stand up. Give them some air in a crowded room, because a warm phone charges more slowly.
What the phone is doing matters as well. Running navigation with the screen on, or sharing a hotspot with the group, can use power almost as fast as a small battery supplies it. If the percentage climbs slowly, dim the screen and close the apps you are not using.
Plan the return on your way home
You can return the power bank to any Juiceboxx station, so it does not need to go back to where you picked it up. The simplest plan is to drop it at the last venue of the night.

Start before the battery is critical
Renting happens in the app, so start while your phone still has enough charge to open it and scan the station. At 20%, you have room to act; at 2%, you may not.
